THE Westchester Children’s Museum
KDC Carpentry recently had the pleasure of working together with the Westchester County Children’s Museum in Rye, New York. This endeavor brought on many fun projects for kids and the KDC team.
Watch THE PLAY EXPERIENCE
The video below features some of the great work our KDC team was able to build, allowing children to play, create and explore in a family-friendly, safe space.
The Collaboration Foam and PIN Wall
Made from wood and foam pool noodles, this creative wall matrix gives children a collaborative environment where they can design, build or even play tic tac toe with others.
The wall is not only colorful and unique, it’s also massive in scale. The entire wall spans across over 50 feet, covering a vast majority of the exhibit’s play space. All in all, it’s a big hit for the kids.
First Impressions are Everything
As you enter the museum, you’ll notice a grand desk welcoming you to the exhibition. This custom-designed and custom-built desk, donated by KDC Carpentry, is the impressive entrance and information center of the museum.
Made from rich Maple and Mahogany, the desk holds interior cabinetry and corridors for information brochures, announcements and staff equipment. A truly essential and beautiful piece added to any exhibit.
A Space for Imagination & Entertainment
From the bright stage lights to a completely custom dressing room with emerging technology, this creative space has it all for those youngsters aspiring to be broadway stars.
The KDC team built out the staging platform and lighting structures needed to frame the performers as well as an innovative and interactive dressing room. The mirrors in both stage-right and stage-left have built-in touch sensitivity LED lighting. A dream come true for any little dance, music or movie star.
Exploring in a safe space
Across the way is a contained play space where children can create, shape and mold anything their minds’ desire. KDC built out a surrounding half-wall which designates the maker space for all things exploration.
From clay molding to painting to science experiments, this space gives the children an area of the museum where they can focus and dedicate their time to more in-depth, interactive creative and scientific experiments.
More FROM THE Project
The Westchester Children’s Museum was an entertaining and rewarding project for us all here at KDC Carpentry. Seeing the joy and excitement on the children’s faces makes it all the more special.
We here at KDC Carpentry continue to work closely with the children’s museum on new and exiting projects and we can’t wait to share more and more with all of you.
